| "Ornate Box Turtle" |

This box turtle was originally sculpted as part of a commission. It is a bit larger than most box turtles
that I used to come across when we lived in Kansas, but I felt it needed to be larger for those who
would want to place this piece outdoors in a garden. The patina on the shell is also a bit brighter than
the weathered shells of the little terrapins I used to move out of the road so carefully – but if placed
outdoors, this shell will eventually darken and weather as well. One of these little terrapins has been
purchased for the permanent collection of The Wildlife Experience Museum in Parker, CO, where it is
being placed outdoors along their new nature path around the museum, so it can be ‘discovered’ by
visitors.
