I’ve always enjoyed sculpting foxes in various sizes, and as the President of the Society of Animal
Artists I didn’t have much time to sculpt the past year. So I concentrated on sculpting a small,
affordable piece of a little resting fox. I call her my “Vargas Vixen”, as she has her legs stretched out
in a fetching manner looking alert and “Foxy” – and reminds me in some ways of the beautiful
drawings that Vargas did for “Playboy” magazine years ago. One can use their imagination and
wonder if she is simply enjoying the warmth of sunshine, or is resting up after having a good meal… or
if she is escaping from caring for her kits for a few brief moments.
