Feline-loving friends asked me to do a cougar sculpture for their new house. They wanted the sculpture to express power, focus,
and elegance of form. The sculpture also needed to be fairly large and vertical in format, so as not to be lost in their enormous
living room.
The cougar, aptly called the “Ghost of the Rockies” inhabits many types of habitat in the west, but is very much at home in rocky
canyons and mesas – former home to lost Indians tribes and many other species of animals. To capture the spirits of these other
“ghosts” from the past, I incorporated a few petroglyph drawings into the base.
