I keep a chair in each of my chicken houses so that I can sit with my chickens, several of which enjoy being held and petted (some
of them actually pester me until I sit down with them). When I am not sitting with them, however, the chairs are very popular with
both the hens and roosters. They sit on the arms, the backs, and the seats of the chairs – and seem to prefer the chairs to their
regular perches. They actually compete for space on the chairs, and I love to watch the interactions. Thus, “Best Seat in the
House” seemed a fitting concept for an entertaining sculpture.
